PBA Pre-Nationals Pairs cancelled

RAIN DAMPENS PREPARATIONS FOR NATIONALS

The NZ Professional Bowls Association Pre-Nationals Pairs was cancelled for just the second time in six years due to persistent rain in Wellington on the eve of the National Championships. The PBA event was due to be held at the Victoria club in Wellington but was called off with persistent rain throughout the morning interrupting preparations. A call was made early with PBA members having organising travel down from Kapiti and Manawatu especially for the afternoon tournament.

Three PBA players will be in action during January in the Word Indoor Singles at the Potter’s Leisure Resort in Norfolk, England involving Waikato’s Phil Bennett and Dunedin’s Geoff Wilson with those two combining to play in the World Indoor Pairs at the same venue. Raika Gregory, also from Waikato is a late invite due to Australia not taking up a tourcard position to complete the kiwi trio. Action gets underway at Potter’s on the 4th of January.
