Victoria did the double on Monday winning the Wellington Open Triples Womens and Mens titles at the Naenae greens. Lisa White, Nina De Munnik and Helen King made no race of the final comfortably beating a well-performed Johnsonville team skipped by Lui Hare. Lisa is not available for the pathways regional playoffs at the Paritutu club in Taranaki on Thursday due to work commitments and will be subbed by Kirsten Griffin.
In contrast, the mens final went down to the wire being decided by a very long measure from the umpire before Rich Corry, Tim Toomey and Ray Martin could be declared the winners over Iain Opray’s plucky Silverstream team. The win was Ray’s second title in three weeks, and allowed him a crack at the national pathways club champs which he was not eligible for after the Open Pairs win with his father.
