Another great effort from the Womens Premier Interclub team on Saturday at Naenae as they won the Regional Interclub playoffs by a comfortable 5 points to reach the National Interclub finals on the 22nd & 23rd March. The first two rounds were a tight tussle between Victoria and the Taranaki champions Paritutu but a clean-sweep in the final round left no doubt who the top team on the day were. As with the Wellington Finals Day, Victoria enjoyed a massive differential advantage of 84 shots over the 2nd placed team.
Feona Sayles came into the singles position with Lisa White unavailable due to New Zealand team duties, Nicole Toomey and Leigh Griffin were in the pairs, and Sarah Taukamo, Nina De Munnik, Kay Carr and Helen King had three big wins in the fours. Victoria will go into the national finals trying to win Johnsonville’s title from last season.
The win earns Victoria another 10 points in the Bowls Wellington Womens Club of the Year standings pushing us further out in front, and also took the No.1 Womens ranking in Rich’s Unofficial Club Ranking which captures points earned over the last 12 month period.
