Congratulations to the Wellington Womens Intercentre team finishing runner-up in the National Intercentre competition at the Wilton club at the end of March which included four Victoria players. Lisa White and Helen King were the pair, and Hayley May (lead) and Leigh Griffin (skip) were members of the Wellington four, while Mercia Downes was the manager. The team won their section, beat defending champions Canterbury in the quarterfinal, swept Bay of Plenty in the semifinal, but lost to Nelson in the final. The pair had a good record with five wins from eight matches unfortunately going down 15-16 in the deciding battle in the final. The four were magnificent winning seven of their eight matches!
Leigh’s daughter Kirsten Griffin was second in the Nelson four which took the intercentre title.
