The New Zealand Professional Bowls Association held its national Finals Weekend at the new Naenae complex last weekend. Bradley Down held number 4 in the national PBA rankings going into the weekend but had to watch with baited breath for the results of the World Indoor Singles playoffs before he could be confirmed as the fifth member of the NZ PBA team to play the Australian PBA next year at the Deer Park club in Melbourne. After just 2 years in the PBA and at 18 years old this is a fantastic accomplishment and chance to play the stars of the Australian PBA.
Ray Martin showed his potential in his debut year in the PBA collecting enough ranking points to be awarded the national PBA rookie of the year. Ray will be on the charge next winter when we have a branch at Naenae to challenge for a spot in the NZ PBA team for 2019.
And delegates voted on and passed Life Membership on Richard Corry for his services to save and re-build PBA in New Zealand. This will need to be ratified at PBA’s international AGM in England in January.
