Victoria’s Ben and Helen King have won the Bowls Specialist Wellington Mixed Pairs this afternoon, the first Wellington title of the 2019-20 season. They won the final 21-6 in a family affair against Birdie Love and James-Cameron Powell of Stokes Valley, it was a great game for the viewers. The Kings raced ahead to a 9-0 lead, helped largely by a four on the second end. The Stokes Valley duo brought it back to 9-4 and then stayed within touching distance until the 13th end when our Victoria heroes picked up a six to move 20-6 ahead.
Ben and Helen also won this title in the 2006-07 season, great to see them win their crown again!
This is the first Wellington tournament Ben has played in since rejoining Victoria after a long hiatus over at Wilton. Hasn’t taken him long to show us his class in Victoria colours again.
